Theatre Intime Board is the administrative body behind Princeton’s only entirely student-run theater company with its own space! Board elections are held twice a year – once in the winter for spring semester and year-long positions, and once in the late spring for semester-long positions in the fall.

Joining board is a great way to learn more about arts administration, gain tons of tech theater skills, help us choose our next season of shows, and most importantly, hang out with a group of other talented theatermakers to form friendships that will last a lifetime! Our space offers a central hub of community and connection and the unique opportunity to get involved in every part of producing a show – from making graphics to hanging lights!

Anyone who has been involved in an Intime production is eligible to nominate candidates and vote at board elections, and anyone (yes, anyone!) at all is welcome to run for an Intime board position, whether you’ve worked on a production previously or not. Even if you’re not sure if you want to run for a position, we encourage you to stop by elections to see the process and give your thoughts. We’d love to see you there!

Theatre Intime Board elections will take place on December 1, 2024.

Come to the Rocky/Mathey Theater on December 1st at 3 PM to participate in our elections. All positions on the board will be up for election, from box office manager to technical director to systems administrator.

You can read more about elections and the different jobs at Theatre Intime here, and if you have any more questions about how to get involved, stop by Theatre Intime between 4-5pm on Sunday 11/24 to learn what it means to be on board and be a part of creating independent student theater on campus!

If you’d like to run for a position but can’t make the elections, send a short speech about the position you’d like to run for to gm@theatreintime.org. Even if you have no experience with Intime, you are welcome to show up just to participate or see what we have to offer! If you can’t make the meeting, feel free to email. We can’t wait to see you there!

How It Works

1. Position Announcement

Positions are run for in the order they are listed on in the elections packet. The current board member will describe their position, and the General Manager will open the floor for nominations to that position.

2. Nominations

Anyone may nominate themself for a position, though Intime community members may also nominate others for a position. After the initial nomination, a second is required for the nomination to be considered valid.

3. Speeches

Following all nominations for a given position, each candidate makes a brief, 1-minute speech. If you can’t make it to elections, send your speech/speeches to the General Manager (gm@theatreintime.org) to be read during this portion of elections!

4. Q&A

Every candidate is asked about their commitments, preferences of the role, and self-care practices. Anyone is allowed to pose other questions to the candidates about the role.

5. Discussions + Voting

The candidates leave the room and a short discussion ensues. Afterwards, an anonymous vote is held and the candidate with the majority wins!

6. Repeat!

Elections FAQ

What does “Intime community member” mean?

An Intime community member includes anyone who has been involved in an Intime production in any capacity (cast, tech, anything!). Anyone can run for board, but only community members can vote or nominate!

Can I run for more than one position?

Absolutely! It’s common for people to run for multiple positions. You’ll be asked which you prefer most in the Q&A section of each position.

I can’t be there; can I still run?

Yes! There will be a Zoom link on the Elections Packet if you would like to attend board elections remotely. If you can’t come at all, send in statements for as many board positions as you would like to the General Manager (gm@theatreintime.org).

What’s the difference between Executive Board and Managing Board?

Executive Board (E-Board) positions are more time-intensive but more central to the theater company, whereas Managing Board (M-Board) positions are more specialized. All Executive Board members are required to participate in the evaluation of show proposals for the next season, though any member of Managing Board may also take part in the proposals process if they wish, and every individual is given equal voting power.

The Executive Board consists of the General Manager, Production Manager, Business Manager, Publicity Director, and Technical Director; these positions are yearlong, elected in December. Some of the Managing Board positions are yearlong, while others are semester-long. For more information on the roles, responsibilities, and differences between board positions, see the elections packet.

What is the time commitment for an Intime board member?

Different positions have different levels of commitments. Every board member is expected to attend weekly board meetings on Sundays at 5:00 PM and to help with running the theater in addition to their duties; at minimum you can expect to spend 2-3 hours a week on Intime-related things.

If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to any of the individual Intime board members with questions about their specific positions, or our General Manager (gm@theatreintime.org) for general inquiries!
